CSTF - Adult Basic Life Support Support L1&L2 Online

Welcome to our Adult Basic Life Support Level 1 & 2 online module. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of completion. The course duration is approximately 1 hour and will earn you 1 CPD point. You have 6 months from the date of purchase to finish this training.

This module covers various topics related to Adult Basic Life Support Level 1 & 2 online module including:

1. Introduction to ABLS: Overview of the importance of ABLS and its role in emergency situations.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Techniques: Instruction on the correct techniques for performing BLS, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
3. Recognition of Cardiac Arrest: Training on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest, as well as the importance of early intervention.
4. Chain of Survival: Understanding the key steps in the chain of survival, including early recognition, early CPR, early defibrillation, and early advanced life support.
5. Airway Management: Instruction on how to open and maintain a patient's airway, including techniques such as head tilt-chin lift and jaw thrust.
6. Breathing Assessment: Training on how to assess a patient's breathing and provide appropriate support, including mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to-mask ventilation.
7. Circulation Assessment: Instruction on how to assess a patient's circulation and perform effective chest compressions.
8. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Detailed training on the correct sequence and techniques for performing CPR on adults.
9. Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs): Instruction on how to use an AED safely and effectively, including how to apply the pads, follow voice prompts, and deliver a shock.
10. Cardiac Arrest Scenarios: Practical scenarios and case studies to apply the knowledge and skills learned in a simulated emergency situation.
11. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Discussion on the legal and ethical aspects of providing ABLS, including consent, confidentiality, and documentation.
12. Post-Resuscitation Care: Training on the importance of post-resuscitation care, including monitoring and supporting the patient's vital signs and providing appropriate follow-up care.


The learning outcomes are.

1. Be able to recognise cardiorespiratory arrest.
2. Know how to summon immediate emergency help in accordance with local protocols.
3. Be able to start CPR using chest compressions
4. be able to locate and operate an AED.
5. Understand national guidelines and local resuscitation policies and procedures.
6. Know how to recognise and respond to patients with clinical deterioration or cardiorespiratory arrest, escalating care in accordance with local policy.
7. Be able to initiate an appropriate emergency response in accordance with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines which may include management of choking, and the use of the recovery position.
8. Be able to initiate and maintain effective chest compressions in accordance with the current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
9. Be able to provide basic airway management ie. ensure an open airway.
10. Be able to initiate and maintain effective lung ventilations in accordance with the current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
11. know how an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can be operated safely and appropriately
12. Understand their individual role and responsibilities in responding to persons in emergency situations.
13. Understand their individual responsibilities in reporting and recording details of an emergency event accurately.
14. Understand the importance of undertaking any resuscitation interventions within the limits of their personal capabilities and context of any previous training received.
15. Know how they should apply the local Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Policy / anticipatory care decision within clinical context.

Requirements:
It is necessary to complete 35 hours (35 Nursing CPD Points) of relevant CPD within the three-year period since your last registration renewal or since joining the register.
Of these 35 hours (35 Nursing CPD Points), a minimum of 20 hours (20 Nursing CPD Points), should be dedicated to participatory learning, which involves engaging in activities that facilitate interaction with other professionals.
