By the end of the training, participants should be able to:
1. Understand Legionella Risks and Health Impacts: Describe the biology of Legionella, how it spreads, and its potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable patient populations in healthcare.
2. Comply with UK Regulations and Standards: Identify relevant UK legislation, guidelines, and the roles and responsibilities of key personnel in managing Legionella in healthcare facilities.
3. Assess and Manage Legionella Risks: Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement Water Safety Plans (WSPs), and apply control measures to prevent Legionella proliferation.
4. Respond to Legionella Incidents: Implement appropriate incident response protocols, manage potential outbreaks, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
5. Maintain Documentation and Records: Properly document Legionella management activities, including risk assessments, control measures, test results, and incident reports, to demonstrate compliance with regulations.
6. Commit to Continuous Improvement: Regularly audit Legionella control measures, update safety plans, and ensure continuous training for staff to maintain a safe water environment in healthcare settings.
