This face-to-face training (refresher) course covers both the practical and theory-based elements of Basic Life Support. You will learn how to perform chest compression and rescue breathing (CPR), how to operate an automated external defibrillator safely and how to place an unconscious breathing victim in the recovery position.

Course Pre-Requisite Requirements
Candidates will have needed to have attended a Full Day of Basic Life Support and attended refresher training on an annual basis.

This face-to-face (refresher) training course covers both the practical and theory-based elements of Manual Handling & Moving of People & Inanimate Objects. You will learn how to demonstrate safe handling techniques, how to use a patient hoist and the principles of human movement.

Course Pre-Requisite Requirements

Learners must have completed a Full Day Manual Handling of People Course in the last year. Course Content

PMVA (Prevention Management of Violence and Aggression) is an essential update when working within any mental health environment. The PMVA refresher course takes one full day to complete, and includes topics such as understanding the stages of the assault cycle, de-escalation strategies and recognising the importance of implementation of early intervention strategies.

We accept MAPPA, MAYBO, Scip, Team Teech, Control and Restraint and PRISS certificates for conversion to the GSA PMVA model of interventions.

All Candidates are required to complete a Health Declaration on the day of the course of which will be assessed by the course tutor.

Due to the physical nature of this course we cannot accept any pregnant candidates on the course, post-natal learners should seek advice from their GP prior to attendance.

Course Pre-Requisite Requirements

All Candidates are required to complete a Health Declaration on the day of the course of which will be assessed by the course tutor.

Due to the physical nature of this course we cannot accept any pregnant candidates on the course, post-natal learners should seek advice from their GP prior to attendance.

This course is suitable to learners of varying fitness levels.

Learners have to adhere to the training safety requirements and Dress Code for the course.

Course Safety and Dress Code: PMVA and Breakaway courses includes the instruction of practical physical intervention skills. Candidates will be required on the day of the course to complete a health declaration prior to course commencement. To ensure candidate safety and comfort during instruction it is essential that candidates are suitably attired, failure to do so may mean refusal to participate on the course; therefore please see the following guidance notes:

No hard soled shoes, boots, hiking boots or steel toe-capped footwear should be worn. Ideally it is recommended that trainers are worn.

No Jeans to be worn, ideally it is recommended that tracksuit bottoms are worn.

No items of clothing should be worn with studs, decorative zips or embellishments such as beads, sequins for example.

No belts with buckles are to be worn.
