Health and safety needs to be at the core of every organisation – no matter if you are a multinational with offices across the globe or a small business employing two or three people. Failure to engage with the relevant legislation can endanger members of the public as well as your own staff members.
If you are unsure of your responsibilities, or feel your staff need additional training to help comply with requirements, a good training provider can help.
A Belfast hairdressing salon, The Blow Dry Bar, might have benefited from training after a member of the public suffered a fatality after falling in the premises in November last year. The owners were subsequently fined £900 plus a further £102 in costs.
A spokeswoman for Belfast City Council, which brought the case to court, said: “Employers must ensure that adequate risk assessments are carried out to ensure the health and safety of both employees and members of the public when in their premises.[…]Belfast City Council is committed to ensuring that businesses in the city meet their obligations under Health and Safety legislation.”
