Health and safety is an important area of any organisation, no matter how big or small. For those working in public facing industries such as healthcare or in the service industries, it should be deemed an essential matter, with compliance of laws and regulations pushed to the forefront of how organisations are run. Failure to do so can mean loss of life in the worse cases and significant losses to productivity and revenue.
Recently, a couple who ran a pub in Devon were fined over £10,000 because they failed to comply fully with health and safety regulations. Environmental health inspectors found conditions in The Globe Inn in Frogmore, Kingsbridge, to be below acceptable levels of hygiene.
Simon Wright, a council member for South Hams District Council, said: “We are always happy to work with businesses to ensure that public health is protected. […] However, where conditions are consistently poor then we will take any necessary action to protect the public.”
A good training provider can offer the right courses to ensure staff understand and follow health and safety regulations, as well as helping to develop the necessary skills needed for the role.
